May 5, 2014 - Montagne russe de emotie

Montagne russe de emotie translates as roller-coaster of emotion....and boy has this week been one! We had lots of goods and lots of not-so-goods...haha. We were ridiculously packed last week because Sora Tanner and I have committed to work as hard as we possibly can. At the beginning of the week we had a lesson with Maria Pop. Maria is the "golden investigator" I was telling you all about last week....well she turned out to be fool's gold. She told us in our lesson that she didn't have the patience for this gospel... She said that she knew we had all the right things in our church and what we were doing was really great, but that she didn't have the patience to find out if it's true. We were heartbroken. Sora Tanner and I walked home in tears... Hahaha. (I'm blaming this on the fact that we were working so hard and so exhausted that we weren't emotionally stable.) Because we were a mess, we took our dinner hour early and went home. On our way out the door again, we met a girl in the elevator who was ridiculously interested in the gospel. She asked us for a Book of Mormon and said she'd come to church. If Maria wouldn't had dropped us and we wouldn't have gone home for dinner, we would not have met this girl. I'm telling ya, God only allows things to bring you down so that He can bring us back up! Just like it says in Alma 58:12 -- "We did take courage and were fixed with a determination to conquer...." We re-committed to work our hardest even through trials and hit the ground running once again. The next day Sora Tanner surprised me at the big meeting we have once a transfer with our Zone Leaders. She brought out gorilla poops (my fave) with lit candles and a big ol' card. Everyone was in on it and they sang me "Happy 1-month-in-the-country and 1/2 Birthday" (Apparently my half birthday was last Saturday....) It was so sweet of everyone and it was so much fun. We had another lesson with the Militaru family this week and they are progressing wonderfully! We had a lesson set-up with only the girl in the family and by the end of the lesson the entire family (including the dad who wouldn't let them get baptized in the past) was there feeling the Spirit along with us. We just know they will get baptized. WE JUST KNOW IT! And last but not least... Yesterday in church we had fast & testimony meeting. There is this way rad/brilliant guy named Paul in our branch. He is from Nigeria and black as night. He got baptized in Germany...and now he's going to college in Romania, but doesn't know Romanian. He always has the coolest insights and he's a super great member in the branch here. He bore his testimony on the love of Christ and I just want to write the jist of what he said with my own thoughts thrown in with it--

The fact of the matter is that people change. The people in this church will most likely change. Although hopefully it won't...their faith, their kindness and their love might just change. But on thing that will never change is God's love for us...."for God is the same yesterday, today & forever." (1 Nephi 10:18) This is why we must base our testimonies on the Lord's love instead of the love of others in this church....we must base our testimonies on Jesus Christ. This is Jesus Christ's church. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. (Biserica lui Isus Hristos a sfintilor din zilele din urma) If we don't have a testimony of Jesus Christ, what are we doing here? Jesus Christ is literally the only way for eternal happiness. "The way is prepared, and if we will look we may live forever...look to God and live." (Alma 37:46-47) Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He loves us and wants us to return to Him and the Father. Jesus Christ knows you better than you know yourself... But do you know Him?

I know this is the gospel of Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven on this Earth....and that is why I have dedicated my life to it.

PROFITE DE ZILE.
